This is the new and improved tutorial for obtaining voice chat with Windows Vista.
1) Make sure you have the latest Yahoo! Messenger v8.1 (or v9.0 beta) build installed (currently v8.1.0.421) from here:
2) Exit Yahoo! Messenger completely (tray icon and all) and download
the TrueSpeech codec from:

and save it to the desktop (this step is VERY important, or else it may not work, so do not hit the Run button when prompted. Save it to the desktop).
3) Right click on the downloaded TrueSpeech codec, and select Run as Administrator and install it.
4) Reboot the computer (this step is optional, but it can help).
5) Right click on the Yahoo! Messenger desktop icon, and go to Properties > Compatibility tab, then check the box “Run this program as an administrator” then hit Apply, then Ok.
6) Start up Yahoo! Messenger, go to a chat room, and attempt to gain voice chat. If the Talk button turns green, SUCCESS!!!!
JIKA LANGKAH DIATAS TIDAK EFEKTIF, JALANKAN LANGKAH BERIKUT:
1—first, Download
2—UNZIP to c:\windows\system32
3—Rename your old tssoft32.acm to tssoft32OLD.acm
4— Rename the new unzipped file tssoft32[Codec-Download.de].acm to tssoft32.acm
5—Check whether this tssoft32.acm shows up in device manager->sounds-videos-codec->audio codecs->>properties –if not then you have problem with vista because it should work on every vista program.
6—Now remove your old yahoo messenger setup with COMPLETE remove option (WARNING:REMOVE it totally from Set Program Access and Defaults)
7—Download and /or INSTALL the ymsgr7us.exe from YM
8— Restart ur PC and DONE..!!
A Few Tips onHow to Install True Speech Codec on to Get Yahoo! Voice working
1. Open Windows Explore goto C:/Windows/System32 and Rename tssoft32.acm to tssoft32OLD.acm
2. Click Here to Download tssoft32.acm save in C:/Windows/System32 folder
3. In Control Panel, go to Add Hardware.
4. Click Next and after it searches choose Yes, I have already connected the hardware Click Next.
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the Installed harware list and choose Add a new hardware device Click Next.
6. Choose Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced) Click Next.
7. Choose Sound, video and game controllers from the Common hardware types list. Click Next.
8. Click on the Have Disk button.
9. Click Browse
10. Navigate to the C:/Windows/System32 folder
11. Choose $winnt$.inf Click Ok. (if you cant find that file try mmdriver.inf )
12. Click Continue Anyway if you get a warning box.
13. Select DSP Group TrueSpeech Audio CODEC from the list. Click Next.
14. Click Next again to install.
15. Restart if necessary.
16. Done! Voice should now work if you followed the steps correctly..
